I want my son’s corpse – Father of slain cop

Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar
Former Chief Medical Director, Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital, Abuja, Dr. Nandur Durfa, on Monday said he was still searching for the corpse of his son, Timman, who was one of the victims of the Ombatshe cult attack.
Timman, 27, was one of the 12 operatives of the State Security Service dispatched to Lafia, Nasarawa State, to dislodge members of the cult group, who reportedly killed over 47 police officers last week.
Durfa, who spoke to our correspondent at his Rantiya, Jos residence, said his first visit to Lafia did not yield either Timman or his corpse.
He said, “I was in Lafia on Friday to identify my son, but of all the bodies so far retrieved, only four were recognisable as others were burnt beyond recognition. So, I am going back there again today (Monday). We were told that there they could do a forensic analysis of the charred bodies to identify them.
Timman, the third in a family of five, his father said, joined the SSS more than three years ago and served in Abuja before his transfer to Lafia a year ago.
His mother, the immediate past Plateau State Commissioner for Science and Technology, was in no mood for any long talk.
She said, “We are praying that he will be one of those still being held by the group as we heard that some of them are still alive, but if not, I pray that his corpse be recovered.”
Meanwhile, many people converged on the Durfas’ Jos residence on Monday, consoling with the family over the incident.
